The challenge
The original mansion is a labyrinth of corridors, stairwells, nooks and crannies, and every suite has its own interior design. Guests expect comfort and tranquillity, so the system had to be close to silent and all but invisible, while working around the constraints of a heritage structure.
The solution
Continuous linear grilles run along the edge of the ceilings and, in some rooms, were custom designed into the coving so that they almost disappear. Each room has a modular fan coil with twin fans running at low speed, positioned vertically or horizontally in wall and ceiling voids or cupboards. Sound-attenuating flexible ducts connect the fan coils to the outlets.
The result
The system is linked to the hotel’s central chiller and boiler plant and its building management system, while individual room controllers give guests instant, personal temperature control. Operation is virtually silent.
